I always do this to myself. I think: Jeff it’s time to get some serious work done, consume excessive amounts of coffee and work through the wee hours of the night. But now I’m really anxious and I can’t do anything except shake. Maybe I’ll ride my bicycle around the neighbourhood and listen to Ahleuchatistas which will probably just make it worse.

University is getting in the way of things. I’ve never taken my schooling seriously. It’s never done a thing for my education.

Whenever I get really worried about my financial position, I remember I have a guaranteed ticket to the middle class waiting for me back in Alaska with government bureaucracy. Then I take comfort in the fact that the health insurance package they offer is affordable enough that I will be able to afford the anti-depressants needed to get me through the State of Alaska without killing myself with a...
Every time I listen to Jonathan Goldstein speak I’m filled with envy at his mastery of self-deprecation.
Please take me under your wing.

Call the ABC, I Think We Have a New Sitcom
Jeff: Serious issues with going to school next semester. LIKE HOW AM I GOING TO PAY?! I need some serious scholarships.
Alex: Hmm. That, or: JEFF AND ALEX GET JOBS. It will be a sitcom. Two crazy, radical students go looking for ways to get money while at the same time stickin' it to the man, WITH HI-LARIOUS RESULTS. Featuring cameos by Jeff Bridges, Noam Chomsky and Zombie Kropotkin.
Might do my final philosophy essay: Critique of Modern Liberalism from an...

Apologies
To all my former co-workers and friends abroad,
I sincerely apologise for not “keeping in touch” as you asked. There’s only so many people, passions, and endeavors I may keep in my life at once. The number seems to shrink as I get older. It’s not that I don’t like you, most of my own family is not in my “circle” even. They’re at arms with me, I...

An Email From Noam Chomsky
A few months back I wrote to Noam Chomsky. He wrote back. I was slightly worried I was in a dream for a week after.
Dear Mr. Noam Chomsky,
I come to you as a citizen who has recently “come of age.” In the last year I have registered for the draft, signed my first lease, and signed for myself upon receiving a driver’s license. However one thing I have abstained from doing is registering to...

Last Week's Startling Discovery
For the first time in several days… Probably the longest bout of straight sunshine I’ve seen in years, I saw overcast. But I think I like it. After all that bitching of how it’s constantly raining in Juneau, and the dreary clouds that hang over it pretty much year-round… I think I sort of enjoy that. It’s almost disturbing. I’d imagine it’s similar to the...
Black & Red Issue #1, Online Edition
I posted about having editors join me on this one a few months ago. It’s now a collective, meaning we all have equal ownership, no managers, and a constitution that establishes are rules and principles. Please distribute this as you see fit electronically. Anarchism is Not a Lifestyle
I wrote this for a yet-to-be-named publication for the Melbourne Anarchists Club. I’m not sure if it’ll get in yet.
Anarchists are subject to a number of stereotypes. They range from being wild-eyed terrorists, bent on forging a world of criminal chaos, to being a misbehaved and nihilistic punk rocker. One stereotype that must be dispelled is that anarchism is not a lifestyle. ...

A Letter to the Juneau Empire
This is my draft.
On Tuesday, February 22nd, as reported in the Juneau Empire, many labour unions across town gathered to show their support for the plight of the Wisconsin worker. Unfortunately, the leadership of all of these unions should come under questioning concerning their sincerity in this matter. To give a specific and local example of their contradictory policies, the local chapter of...

Sleep Spindles & K-Complexes - Pyramids
Like a ghost brushing its fingertips across the spine of its worldly vessel, there is no peace in harmony. Like a flash flood as the pinhole widens, we barrel forward in a frantic display, as though time spent is distinguishable from time lost. I’ve spent days in my mind, barreling across the land, staring out the window, trying to make sense of my surroundings. When did this place...

Untitled Letter
I wrote this for the paper here. I’m not entirely sure it’ll get in.
In the wake of a successful Alaskan campaign funded by the deep pockets of the burgeoning “Tea Party movement”, many are claiming that the group is a revolutionary catalyst for sweeping changes across the country; a movement that stands to change American politics forever. Such statements are ambitious and more...

Kitchen Sink
Black hole, has taken everything, but the kitchen sink
Empty space, is all I eat
Dusty mood for breakfast
Black hole, spare me a penny on my death bead
So I can buy a bag of old memories
Black hole
-Pygmy Lush (my attempt at getting the lyrics correct)
hurt everything.
i’ve hurt everything
good that i’ve known.
each soul, every bone,
(nice old cars, sweet tough dogs,
greens trees, loving homes.)
well,
i killed christ for fun,
and JFK for pay, and
(when the devils had their
chance for blood, i looked
the other way) gave love
for money, soaked in sin
thru it all,
i threw it all away.
oh.

Internet, You Can Thank Me Later
About half a week ago, I called attention to the 41% of my readers who were cavemen Internet Explorer users and how they need to switch to Firefox or some other alternative browser. I’m proud to report the number has gone down to 36%. Web designers, I just made your job a little easier.
Don’t mention it.
